Consider/Approve Amendment to Board Policy #2.702 – Inventories


Background Information :

The Divisions of Federal Programs and Special Education of the Tennessee Department of Education have issued new regulations/guidelines for accountability of equipment and inventory. As such, Board Policy #2.702 needs to be amended. The following statement is recommended as an addition to the first paragraph under the heading “EQUIPMENT PROCURED WITH FEDERAL DOLLARS”:

Sensitive minor equipment is defined as items purchased with a cost between $100 and $5,000, and includes items such as, but not limited to,

  • computers,
  • external computer peripherals,
  • camera bodies (35mm & digital),
  • camera lens (200mm or larger),
  • fax machines,
  • oscilloscopes,
  • radio scanners,
  • televisions,
  • video cameras, and
  • video recorders/players.

Staff Recommendation:

I recommend approval of the amendment as set forth above on second and final reading.
